There is a gentle music coming from around the corner. The illuminated courtyard is full of couples, enchanted by the movements of the tango. In the neighbouring streets are also filled with cheerful young people, smiles, sparks in their eyes and artistic body movements. Afro-American music is coming from the other part of the city and soon we can catch a glimpse of sweaty bodies, dancing to the rhythms of salsa. Recognize the city? Paris? Berlin? Ljubljana? This time it’s Maribor and its lively courtyards.

The programme Courtyards of Maribor brings the old parts of the city back to life by cooperating with numerous artists and making the courtyards the place of socializing and having a good time. The goal is to make these activities come to life independently, organized by the people themselves and to invite other visitors to enjoy the programme.

This year’s programme is very versatile and seeks to improve the quality of life in the city. The series will include numerous workshops, such as screen printing, cooking, bicycle mending and herb planting.  The courtyards will host Maribor artists, street performances, picnics and exhibitions.
