Images of reality is the most recent project of Tine Grgurevich. The music is written for a large ensemble of 9 instruments (tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, vibraphone, guitar, bass drums and keyboards). The music is self composed and in terms of style it is a fusion between different genres featuring jazz, film music, classical music, pop and rock. The pieces are often long through composed suites with space for improvisation in between.

His inspiration for writing this music were the words of a famous Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Žižek, who lives between New York and Ljubljana. He once wrote:»Images are the true reality for us today, I claim. We cannot simply say discard the images and you will see reality. If we discard the images nothing remains, just some pure abstraction. Images are reality for us today.« Slavoj Žižek

The idea was primarily to write music for images, film music in a way. This explains the sometimes cinematic sounding quality of the music. Through use of particular harmonic resources, I attempt to create specific associations and images in listener’s imagination.
