Hot street theatre performances

Two of the biggest squares in Maribor sparkled in flames and hosted hundreds of viewers in the last few days.
On Wednesday, we witnessed a magical floating performance by French musicians Glisssssendo that performed on the Trg Leona Štuklja square.
On Thursday, a factory was built at Trg svobode square and the performance Factory 1 shocked hundreds of viewers that filled the square to be able to see it in flames.

“There’s no trick, no machinery, just magic,” explained Pux, a member of Glisssssendo. “Music makes us float.”  Seven musicians glided through the square, creating music and magic. Fire, black coats and beautiful brass instruments created a charming atmosphere.

Festival visitors were also anxious to see what was the purpose of the construction that was slowly coming together at the Trg svobode square. On Thursday, they could satisfy their curiosity when the Dutch artists provided them with a fire spectacle they will remember for a long time. The 30-minute-long fire show required 8 cubic metres of sand, 6 cubic metres of wood, sawdust and wood chips, as well as 200 litres of kerosene. The organizers reassured the audience wasn’t at risk during the performance, as long as they remained outside the circle.
